As we begin the new year the choir can look back on a very busy and successful year. Since the last edition of the pump we have taken part in the Camborne Music Festival, where we came joint second in our class, and performed two very successful Christmas concerts. The first was a carol service on Sunday 11th. December, held at Ventonleague Methodist Chapel which was well attended and appreciated. The second was at Phillack Church on Saturday 17th December and marked the beginning of the church's Christmas Tree Festival. The atmosphere in the church was quite magical, partly due to an unanticipated power failure!,as it was lit entirely by candles and the lights of 28 Christmas trees. The carol concert was very well attended and received with enthusiasm and appreciation. Both concerts were performed jointly with the Praze-Hayle Male Voice Choir, each choir singing 4 carols each and coming together for the final 3 carols, making a combined choir of around sixty voices. To
round off our year the choir had a very successful, happy and enjoyable evening at Country Skittles where we had a most enjoyable meal, followed by several noisy and competitive games of skittles.
We are now looking forward to 2012, to learning new music and revisiting old favourites. This ladies choir is a very friendly and supportive choir, so if you enjoy singing what could be nicer than to join a group of like minded ladies every Thursday evening? We rehearse in the Hayle Methodist Church Hall from 7.30 to 9.30. We have a wide ranging repertoire to suit every taste, so if you would like more information why not contact our musical director, Ann on 01736 752335, or our secretary Geraldine, on 01736 755162. |
